They enjoy showing that “Pure Hunting” opportunities still exist for those willing to put forth a little more effort.     Utah Elk

    Willi Schmidt won a Utah Elk tag in a raffle at the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo in February 2017. Not knowing the unit and not being able to put boots on the ground prior to the hunt, he reached out to several people, all who were willing to help with the hunt. The first morning of the hunt started well with a bull bugling in the basin but would the hunt be over before it really got started?

    Montana Elk

    Archery elk hunting is Willi’s biggest passion and Montana is one of his favorite states to do it in. He already had success with his bow in Utah, taking his best bull to date. He is excited to try an area of Montana he has’t hunted, but he scouted earlier in the year.

    Alaska Moose

    Like most hunters, a bucket list hunt for Host, Willi Schmidt was an Alaska moose hunt. When he was approached by Icy Bay Lodge, primarily a guided fishing operation, to be transported to hunt moose, he jumped at the chance. The rules are pretty strict for transporters and that type of hunt was just what Willi loves. The conditions were tough with lots of rain prior, but it would only take one moose to to fulfill this bucket list hunt. Willi’s good friend, Randy Peck joins him on this hunt.

    Friends and an Old Fashioned Meat Pole

    Join this Eastern Montana deer hunt with Willi Schmidt and friends Jason Matzinger and Nick Ventura. It’s their first time sharing camp for deer in Montana. Jason found a unique opportunity for them the previous year, made the reservation and invited the crew for a late season rifle deer hunt. Although the guys were primarily hunting mule deer, there are both muleys and whitetails. A modern day, old fashioned deer camp, meat pole and all.

    My Why

    This passion project of Willi’s came about after filming the Opening of Pure Hunting’s TV series for a couple of years. There was quite a bit of filming showcasing him working out and he decided to utilize the footage for a larger project. “My Why” is a short film of his why for working out and showcasing a few hunts where his physical fitness came into play.

    Late Muzzy Whitetails, Iowa Style

    Willi and Tom Petry drew the late season muzzleloader tag for Iowa after an invitation from Tom’s friends, Cody and Cassie. Willi had never hunted Iowa for deer and not wanting to wait for 4-5 years for an archery tag, he took advantage of the offer. It can be a great time to shoot a big buck with the deer focusing on food, but the weather needs to be right.

    Willi got an invitation on a late season whitetail hunt in Oklahoma. He was joined Tom Petry for a rifle hunt on a property he had no history with, but it did have some good deer and lots of wild horses.

    Willi heads back to Ohio to hunt a lease with good friends, Nick, Tom and Jason. He had a unique hunt the previous year on a golf course. They didn’t lease the golf course this year, but it was the same group hunting a familiar piece of property.
